I’ve always loved a sweater or cardigan. Truthfully, anything that is comfortable. I currently have what I can my “bear” sweaters. I got them at Costco and they are SO ugly, but they are incredibly comfortable. They make me feel like I’ve been wrapped in goodness when I’m not feeling the best.
Like eating comfort food!
I know, this is quite a way to start a post about Ellie and Mac’s newest pattern the Good Luck Cardigan. In all reality though, it’s about the same of goodness. The difference is that when you slip into the Good Luck Cardigan you find yourself not just comfortable but also looking really stylish!
Until I started sewing for myself, I was stuck buying whatever the fashion world deemed appropriate for men. I’m taller than what they think women wear. It sounds crazy, but I never got the cute “hit me where they are supposed to sweaters, shirts, cardigans maxi dresses etc. So, the fact that I can add length easily to the Good Luck Cardigan is a HUGE plus!
They were even kind enough to include a cut line on where to add in the length! Typically I just figure out where to add it and do it. It makes my life so much easier when I don’t have to.
As I was sewing I tried it on about 85% of the way through. I really thought it fit funny. Mind you, I did’t have the band on it. I went and double checked (make that triple and thing about 6 or 7 times later was satisfied that I had used the correct size). Sure enough, I had the right size. Once I got those bands on, that’s all I needed to make the pattern fit correctly! So, once you have made it and you want to make sure it’s fitting or that the sleeves are hitting where you want them to...be forewarned that it may not feel like it’s fitting you correctly.
Other than that little snafu, I absolutely LOVE the Good Luck Cardigan!
The fit is spot on. I did add about 3” in length, but again I’m 5’11” and the pattern is drafted for 5’4”.
I adore the sleeves and love that the ruffles are added on and not just flared out at the end.
Overall I give the Good Luck Cardigan 6 thumbs up (My husband and daughter voted too).
