Go To Jacket | Patterns for Pirates

We live in Washington State.
When most people think of Washington State, they think rainy and chilly.

That's not the reality we live in though, we're on the other side of the state.
You know, where sunny, dry weather is the standard.
While my kids have winter coats because we do get good gusts of wind through here that makes it cold, we just don't get the terribly cold weather.  In fact, I don't own a winter coat.  So, I (and most of my household) prefers to wear sweatshirts and hoodies during the winter rather than their coats.
They provide just enough warmth to keep me/us from being cold when I'm outside.

So, I almost feel like an expert on judging hoodies/jackets.

Don't get me wrong though.
I'm only semi-pro, and that's because I've sewn 8 of them in the past three to four weeks!

The Go To Jackets by Patterns for Pirates fits the bill of being comfortable, warm enough to keep us from getting a chill but not too warm.

These patterns are a perfect "Go To" for everyday.  My kids wear jackets and hoodies like they are everyday clothes, so these fit perfectly into their wardrobes!

I wish we could have gotten all six of us in the picture at the same time, but sadly Mr. Model had the flu when we had to have pictures done and we couldn't find anyone else to take our pictures so Miss. Opinionated Teen and I swapped turns taking pictures.

We'll start with the Men's pattern.
It ranges from size XXS to XXXL with short, average and tall lengths.  It worked out great for all three of my guys.  Both of my boys aren't quite above 5'6" yet, so they both got short and the Music Man got a long.  He's a little above 5'10" but has a really long torso so the long fits him perfectly.

Mr. Model is wearing a size small french terry, short, hooded, hemmed sleeve, inseam pocket jacket.  His fabric is from Wonderground Fabric (striped grey) and Elevated Fashion Fabrics (solid charcoal).

Next we have Mr. P who is wearing a size XS, bomber, banded sleeves, inseam pocket.  His fabric is french terry front and sleeves and a cotton lycra back.  The plaid fabric is from Raspberry Creek, sleeve fabric is from Elevated Fashion Fabrics and Moose Panel is from Peek-A-Boo Fabric Shop.

The Music Man is wearing an XXXL bomber jacket in both jackets.  Both sleeves are banded with inseam pockets.
His "Hawaiian" jacket is a heavier cotton lycra body with a mustard french terry for the sleeves and bands.  This is the most crazy fabric, but he absolutely loves it!  He has a strange love for Hawaiian fabric.  I don't think we are surrounded by enough water to wear hawaiian fabric.  LOL!  All of this fabric is from Elevated Fashion Fabrics.

This jacket fabric is from Raspberry Creek Fabrics and Elevated Fashion Fabrics.  He sat down and ordered fabric when he saw the pre-test call come out with anticipation of getting new jackets.  Like I said above, my family LIVES in jackets!!

The WOMEN's pattern comes in sizes XXS to 3X.
Miss. Opinionated Teen is wearing a S shirt length, hooded, hemmed sleeve, kanga pocket.
She LOVES her hood!  Can you tell?
Her jacket is made from solid french terry from Elevated Fashion Fabrics and the Striped Purple is from Wonderground Fabric.

My jacket is a 3X bomber, shirt length, banded sleeves, inseam pockets.  I lengthened it because I'm a tad tall.  The pattern is drafted for the height of 5'5" and I am 5'11", so I added 3" to the pattern to have it sit at the correct length.  I love the fit of the jacket!
My fabric originally was for my husband.  But, when we were picking out fabrics for our jackets I decided I liked it and "stole" it.  It's a good thing he doesn't remember what I buy fabrics for!!
The striped french terry is from So Sew English, and the Royal Blue Cotton Lycra is from Elevated Fashion Fabrics.

And now, our Miss. Thang (also known as the Little Redheaded girl)....

She thought she needed a one-on-one photo shoot with dad.  She's the baby.  He agreed.

She's wearing a size 6 width 8 length, hooded, hemmed sleeve, inseam pocket.  Her jacket is made from French Terry that she has been begging me to use forever!  The floral french terry is from So Sew English and the solid charcoal is from Elevated Fashion Fabrics.

She literally hasn't taken her jacket off except when I have made her.  It's very much a WIN in her book!!

We all LOVE the GO TO patterns!  They are comfortable and look great with everything we have worn them with.

What I particularly love about the patterns is that the tutorials are well laid out and they do a great job with zipper help.  A lot of people struggle with zippers and so it's nice to know that P4P has anticipated that!

Just a word to the wise, I chose to ignore the tip on exactly ONE of the zippers....USE the interfacing!  Your fabric won't move and it'll look SO. MUCH. BETTER if you use it!!

Now, the Nitty Gritty:
