Top Tester: Walk the Plank

I had the opportunity to participate in Pattern for Pirates Top Tester this last week. They were looking to add to their testing pool and if I remember correctly about 545ish people were in that group.  It was crazy, but a fun experience. There are two patterns; both are unisex pajama pants.  One for youth and one for adults.  The adult pattern contains several different inseams which is lovely for people like me who have a spouse who has a 30 inch inseam but likes to wear a 32 inch inseam.  And me who wears a 36 inch inseam.   I tested the youth size 14 pattern originally thinking I’d need to grade the pattern.  I tend to have to do that because my kids are skinny!  However, this is a very straight forward pattern that is meant to be loose and comfy.  There was no grading required at all.  That made my life easy!  Both of my boys wear a size 14, but have slightly different waist sizes.  With this pattern I didn’t need to worry about that because of how it is meant to fit.

A little Agnes in her life

My children spend just about as much time looking at fabric and patterns online as I do. So, during a fast fingers sale at Pretty Posh Fabrics she asked for some of this Odette fabric.  I was a little shocked.  Normally she doesn't go for florals, but she asked so I bought it. When it arrived I have to admit I wasn't too sure about it.  I wasn't terribly thrilled with the pattern of flowers.  She on the other hand was excited!  Unfortunately she was headed out the door to spend the week with cousins at the beach, so it sat on my sewing table staring at me.  I looked for patterns that called this fabric, and finally gave up until she got home.  That's when she said she saw Halla's Agnes dress with 3/4 sleeves (3/4 sleeves on EVERY single thing she or I sew for her).   She quickly showered after getting home frome her beach trip and then promptly pulled everything out to cut out the dress.  She cut a size 8 with the knee length of a 26.  We could have don

Testing: Dill Pickles Tee

The males in my life are getting A LOT of love right now! Pickle Toe Patterns is re-releasing their Dill Pickles Tee   with so many options! The pattern is on sale until Monday, September 18th !  It's not just a regular tee anymore!  We're talking long sleeves, short sleeves (both with banded options!), shirt length or tunic length (again, with banded options...who needs to hem?!?!),  a kangaroo pocket which is ALWAYS a favorite in my house and hood options.  Hood options?  That's right, you can line the hood (I chose that option.  See below pictures), you can hem the hood or you can band the hood!  I LOVE options!  And I love that I can change up each shirt to look different! To make it even better, this is a uni-sex pattern that has from size 2 to 22!  That means it'll fit up to my 15 year-old! That's A LOT of sizes!  To be able to buy one pattern with that many options to fit that many kids is a STEAL! It's also a GREAT beginner patte

Testing: Hudson Hooded Pullover

To say my family loves hoodies is an understatement. Do we even have a stronger word than love in the English language? Maybe their actions will have to suffice, because they (all five other members of my crew) are all attempting to wear them already! When I was given an opportunity to test the Men's Hudson Pullover by Greenstyle Creations, my husband was elated! I don't sew for him very often and he was excited that it was his turn. He now has three of them in his closet ready for much cooler weather.  We've been in the high 90's here, so it's still too hot for him to wear to work, but he's more excited for winter to come now. I tested the 2XL version even though he technically fits in the XL.  He likes looser clothing unless he's playing football, so this is a little looser.   The options I chose for this hoodie are: Hood, zipper, pocket and bottom band. The pattern is drafted for a height of 5'10" to 6'0"
