Emerson & Maya | Petite Stitchery

Emerson and Maya...a match made in sewing heaven!

Jennifer Jeremiah with Petite Stitchery did a beautiful job drafting both of these patterns.  As a tester, sometimes I get the opportunity to see glimpses of the process a designer takes in drafting a pattern.  The Emerson is one of those patterns.
Jennifer had a vision for the pattern, and it looked beautiful on her.  However, it wasn't coming across the same way when sewn by the testers.  So she performed some amazing "CPR" and out came a beautiful top!  She worked tirelessly to create the best pattern she could and I truly believe she did an excellent job!

I adore the sleeves on this Emerson!  The sleeves can be made with a bell sleeve, a plain sleeve or up to three flounces.  While I really like all of the sleeves, my favorite is the bell sleeve!

The fit of the Emerson is spot on and looks fantastic with the "V" in the front and the back of the shirt.  The V lends an elegant look to the Emerson.

As for the Maya, this is the gathered mini skirt version.  It's really cute dressed up or down, and she received so many compliments on it at school from fellow students and teachers.  Which of course means they are both really great patterns!  *Just as a note:  on her first version of side gathered waistband, she kept pulling her gathers almost straight in the middle.  So for this skirt I added clear elastic to each side of the waist band after I had gathered it so that she could still wear it how she wanted, but so it would still have that "gathered" look that I love about the skirt.

And this version of the Maya is a flat waistband.  The skirt is a cotton lycra layer with 4 layers of tulle.  Truthfully, I need to add more layers.  I only had enough for 4 layers, but it could have used a few more.  The length of this Maya is knee length.

The Maya has three lengths, mini, knee length and maxi.  Usually Miss. Opinionated Teen is very much a maxi girl.  I was pleasantly surprised when she asked for the shorter version!  I think it's so adorable I was going to beg if I had to.

All in all, both the Emerson and Maya get A LOT of thumbs up from this house!  They are beautifully drafted and the Opinionated Teen feels and looks beautiful in both versions!
