Beautiful.  Stunning.  Gorgeous.

These simple yet very meaningful words were uttered from my husbands mouth when he first saw me in my Runway Dress and then he asked if he needed to put his tux on so he could take me out to dinner.  My 16 year-old daughter asked me who I was planning on going to Prom with.  After I finished laughing, I offered to be her date for Prom.  HA!

I've had this green Cotton Lycra and Embroidered Mesh for a looooong time.  My dress form Anastasia got to "wear" the embroidered mesh for the entire time I've had the mesh.  (My kids think it's funny to "dress" her in my fabric).  My husband thought it would be fun to buy me the mesh for another purpose, but I just couldn't make lingerie out of something so beautiful.  So, when I saw the Runway Dress I knew I had to make a Maxi with an overlay of mesh.  The end result did not disappoint!
This version is actually the second one I made.  My first version is the tunic pictured below.  So, while I typically add length to every single pattern I make; I didn't to the maxi...at all.  In fact, I didn't have quite enough green so my underskirt was shorter than my mesh layer as I had lengthened the mesh layer.  The mesh layer was REALLY long, as in I couldn't even begin to walk long.  So, I had to shorten it to the underskirt length.

**I highly recommend you measure how long the skirt will be on you before adding length**

I used two layers of black scuba for the waist band which provided fantastic support in the middle.  I actually did that for both versions, and I have to say that I'm glad I did.
I like the structure the scuba gives in the waistband.  The skirt is heavy, especially with the second layer so I needed the stability in the waistband.

My very favorite part of the Runway dress is the bodice and sleeves.  I love ruching, and the look it gives this top is absolutely stunning.

While I won't be attending Prom with my daughter anytime soon, I have every intention of wearing this on a date night out with my husband.  And you better believe he'll be wearing his tux!

This is the tunic version of the Runway Dress.  It has almost a peplum look to it.  I used a DBP on the top and again used scuba for the waistband and the skirt.
The DBP looks fantastic, although it is looser in the top than the cotton lycra.

I love both versions of The Runway Dress and Kristi has outdone herself!

I'm excited to see what she has for Fashion Week!
