Remember when the clothes you wore were so fashionable they weren't comfortable?
Yeah, me too.
Thankfully, the Boho Babydoll pattern isn't one of those!
It's beyond comfortable!

Miss. Thang has been asking for a Maxi skirt for a long time.  Typically she gets whatever dress or skirt I happen to be testing or I think is cute.  She rarely gives specific requests, I just hadn't found the right maxi yet.  And then the Boho Babydoll-Youth entered the picture.

The Boho Babydoll-Youth comes in several different lengths.  Miss. Thang is wearing the slight high low maxi here with 3/4 sleeves.  We LOVE the high low!  It's just high enough in the front that she isn't tripping over her skirt and yet it's still long enough that she feels "elegant" and just a little grown up.

It also comes in the options of a curved top length, curved dress length, high low top length.  On top of those options you can choose a racerback tank, short sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, 3/4 sleeves with ruffle and long sleeves!

I love a pattern with  A LOT of options, and the Boho Babydoll has a bunch of them!

I also love that it's fitted just enough in the chest
to not look like she's swimming in her dress, but yet she's very comfortable.

The second version of her dress we chose to make out of two fabrics which makes it easier to see how the bodice fits.  The sleeves on this one are cut just a tad higher.  I accidentally cut on the 3/4 sleeve with ruffle line instead of the 3/4 sleeve line.  We only make happy mistakes....right?!?!

I have been eyeing the fabric in this skirt forever from Aurora Design Fabrics and love how it looks on this maxi.
I adore both of her dresses!  I like that it can be more of a play dress or it can be dressed up for nice occasions.

And that brings us to the Boho Babydoll.

I don't even have enough words to say how much I love this pattern!  I vaguely remember having a babydoll type top "back in the day", but never like this!  Back then they were frumpy.  I even remember feeling frumpy in them, the Boho Babydoll though is just amazing and I don't feel frumpy at all and rather fantastic!

I have to admit, at first I was a little worried about looking pregnant.  I'm not exactly a size 0, so it's always a possibility (not the being pregnant...just looking like I am!).  Apparently I wasn't the only one worried because this is in the pattern description "There is enough gathering along the seamline to give interest without adding inches to your silhouette"

I didn't have to worry too much, because it's absolutely fantastic!

This dress is made from Cotton Lycra, which isn't technically a recommended fabric.  However, I adore this fabric from Aurora Designs and since I was making Ms. Thang a dress out of material from them, I figured I'd pull this from my stash and use both the Emi (the floral) and the mint CL that I bought to go with it.

It's a tad bit more form fitting because of the CL than the elephant dress I'll post pictures of below.  However, I LOVE it!  It's bright, springy and most of all...comfortable!
I did add clear elastic in the sides to help support the skirt.  In testing some women had issues with it pulling the bodice down.  I added it as a precaution because I am 5'11" and the pattern is drafted for a woman who is 5'5" and therefore I add length to the skirt.

Patterns for Pirates has a great tutorial on how to lengthen or shorten a pattern for your height HERE

They draft for an 8" side waist (see link above if you need help measuring) and mine is 13" so I added 2" to the bodice.  To be honest, I think I only needed 1"; particularly in my elephant dress and am going to modify the elephant dress so it sits a little higher.

I also added right around 2" in the skirt.  I normally only add about 3".  However, the Boho Babydoll dress length sits at a nice spot on me with the length I added.

As you can see, the bodice on the elephant dress is looser.  It is a double brushed poly and so drapes a lot more.

Overall, Ms. Thang and I give it 4 thumbs up!
