It's not often I test for the Music Man.
He's pretty laid back about the whole process which is really nice!
He is however pretty picky about fabrics, what looks good together, how the garment fits and the overall style.
After he finished "shopping" and made his selection from the fabric I have in stock. {Who am I kidding, fabric I have in stock? More like the fabric I have in my stash!}
He put the pattern together for me. I put patterns together on a regular basis and so I often wonder how easy/hard patterns are to put together from a beginners opinion. I figured if he messed up with it I could always reprint the pattern and put it together myself.
He did a great job assembling it and because it was for a test, he wouldn't put it together without me watching over him. So, I sat by him as he glued the pieces together.
The only question he had when he was putting it together was "where is the map on how to put it together?" I had forgotten to give him the instructions. I had read through them, but apparently thought he was a mind reader! OOPS!
Unlike the Aspen I made, I put in grommets for drawstrings in his cowl.
The grommets make the cowl a lot more functional. He wasn't sure about it at first and kept asking why I was putting in a "neck protector". Although I didn't really give him a choice, I assured him it was needed. We don't get a lot of extreme weather where we live, but it does get windy. And as a teacher hoodies just aren't professional enough to wear on a daily basis. The Alpental gives him a different option to wear to work besides polos or button down shirts everyday. I also really like the look of the pullover with the drawstrings in it.
One of my favorite features of the Alpental is the pocket.
It's so unique!
I love that it's technically a kangaroo pocket, but is attached so different than a regular kangaroo pocket. He thought it was pretty funny that he could reach all the way up to the bottom of the cowl if he felt like it.
My boys were discussing all of the different things they could store in the pocket because of how big it is!
Another reason to love the Alpental is just how quick of a sew it is! The longest part is attaching the "piping" (I used a strip of Cotton Lycra instead of piping). I wanted to make sure I went nice and slow as I was top stitching it so I didn't stretch anything. So, that literally took the longest. The rest of the pullover went together so fast!
Before I even had a chance to take his final pictures in the pullover, he decided he should wear it to work. He's a middle school Choir and Spanish teacher and we all know how tough middle school kids can be on clothing choices.
They weren't though, he not only received compliments from students but also coworkers!
Several of the students tried to tell him they had seen the pullover in several stores. I had to laugh at that!
Now for all the details! Because the men in your life will want one of these amazing pullovers too!
