Vivianne | Halla

My sewing goal for 2019 in it's entirety is to sew clothing that is outside of my little box I call the comfort zone.  Truthfully, it's a very, very small box.

I wear long, tunic length tops...and when I say tunic, the rest of the world says dress length.
I own A LOT of leggings to wear with the tunics dresses.

That's getting boring, and in about 10 short weeks I have the opportunity to do an internship for Healthcare Administration.  Leggings and dresses/tunics just aren't going to cut the dress codes.

So, I embraced the Vivianne by Halla and I ADORE her!

Let's talk about her length first.

Typically when I make a pattern, I add a good 3".  I did that the first go round and it was an abysmal failure.  I couldn't even bring myself to take pictures of it.  It was that bad!

I neglected to take into account that Vivianne is supposed to sit toward the top of the hips, not directly on the hips.  So, while I would typically grade for my hips, I don't have to for this.  And, she is supposed to be a little poofy where the waist band is connected.

My second go at the Vivianne I didn't add any height to the pattern, and I really like where she lands on my hips.  I'm hippy and so she shows that off very nicely.

The first time I didn't make an Full Bust Adjustment (FBA).  Usually I don't need one.  However, again after my first attempt I decided I probably should.  Halla has some AMAZING help in the FBA department!  As I had never done one before, their diagrams and instructions were incredibly helpful!

I may not have needed an FBA the second time around as this sweater knit is a little looser, but I like the fit of it.  And, now that it's done on my pattern I don't have to worry about using more structured fabric if I choose to use it.

Look how nicely that poof is on the back!

Now, the pleats on the front of the bodice.  I love them!  I'm a tad OCD, so I measured them exactly and they match perfectly on both sides.  You don't have to do that, but I love the look of them!
The pleats add class and make the Vivianne just a step above other cardigans I've seen.

I haven't had a chance to get pictures of my button down cardigan yet.  I'll post them when I do.  However, just like always, Halla has SO many options included with the Vivianne!

She can be made:
Cropped
Sweater or Cardigan
Long Sleeve Cuffed
Short cuff or long cuff
Half Sleeve banded
Tall or regular Waistband

Pleated Shoulder
Plain shoulder
Patch pockets

Vivianne is a must have in your wardrobe!
