I raisefish humans that LOVE water.
I raise
Thankfully we live in an area that has great swimming options from Memorial Day until almost October. And even then we have the option of swimming indoors the rest of the year.
So, swimsuits are something we need a lot of...hence my swim fabric collection and the perpetual search for great swimsuit patterns.
We really look for suits that aren't run of the mill. I like to be able to find my kids when we're at the pool or river and not have their suits look like all the other kids!
The Girl's South Seas Suit by Petite Stitchery fits the bill.
Instead of doing elastic or a band at the leg I did a binding which allows for the suit to be 100% reversible. It would be possible to use fold over elastic for leg, however, I didn't have any on hand. So, I just used the band measurements and turned it into a binding.
I love how cute this suit is!
I also like that I can make it out of DBP or Cotton Lycra so she can wear it as a body suit. She seems to think she needs a closet full of those as well right now.

This is the boyshort option with banded legs and a tie back.
One of my favorite things about the South Seas Suit is that the closure can be done so many ways!
The next suit I made is completely reversible, and I did the regular legs. Instead of cutting lining, I cut the purple swim fabric.
I was so excited that I had gotten a swimsuit bra closure that I didn't think through how I should close the suit for a reversible suit. So, this suit is reversible. However, the purple side doesn't look quite as awesome as the Popsicle side. I may go back in and change it to a tie because it'll look a lot cuter with a tie.
