Ragdoll by Patterns for Pirates

I have adored raglan shirts for as long as I can remember.  Back in the “day” (Read that to mean just a few years ago when I was in elementary school), girls didn’t typically wear them and I always wished I could.  They were cute!

Truthfully, one of the reason’s I decided to try Patterns for Pirates in the first place was because of their women’s raglan’s.  So, imagine my utter delight when the first pattern I have the opportunity to test for them is a raglan mixed with a dolman!

Be still my Fan Girl heart!

To satisfy my somewhat geeky/studious side I did a tad bit of research on how the raglan came to be.  If your geeky side needs that kind of satisfaction, feel free to click HERE and read the post about the raglan and dolman!

Now back to the main attraction.

I present to you the

It’s a fabulous combination of a raglan sleeve and the dolman batwing!  The ultimate in comfort.
Clothes that make me look great and yet be really comfortable are clothes I’m going to keep coming back to over and over again.  The Ragdoll is a pattern that fits this description.

My absolute favorite feature of the Ragdoll though is the neckline.  It can be hard when you are well endowed to find patterns that aren’t too showy or too high on the top.
I LOVE how the Ragdoll  is a little lower cut and yet I don’t feel like I’m walking around pouring myself out of my dress or top.  My husband *may* have commented about how great the Ragdoll is in terms of the neckline is as well.
Very rarely does he comment on how great a neckline is.  Originally he took my final photos.  He took 550 pictures.  I literally got 4 usable pictures.  The reason being, he liked the neckline A LOT!  I agree with him though.
And, like Sandra Bullock says in Miss. Congeniality. “And I’m suddenly very aware and proud of my breasts.”

The length of the pattern is spot on.  While I have to add length to the pattern for my height, I was able to add the standard 1/2” for each inch I am taller than what the pattern is drafted for.  For those that may not know, the Ragdoll is drafted for a woman that is 5’5”.  I am 5’11” and so I add 3” to the pattern.  The length was perfect and hit exactly where it is supposed to.

As far as the sleeves go, I’m a big 3/4 sleeve fan.  I wear 3/4 sleeves year round, and it hits just where you would expect a 3/4 sleeve to hit.

I did a solid back version of the Ragdoll, however, there is an option to do an open back.

I’ve never minded hemming, but I often read how others despise hemming.  The tutorial shows a fantastic way of making it super easy to hem a curved edge.  I’d tell you, but then I’d be thrown into Pirate jail and as fun as that sounds, I really don’t want to go to Pirate jail.  I jest....sort of.  No really though, many people struggle with hemming and Judy has made it really easy to hem this curved edge with her instructions.

And, I really, really love the Dolman portion of the sleeve!  It is so comfortable!
And, how often do you get to take pictures like this to show it off?

Overall, I absolutely LOVE this pattern!

Now for the Nitty Gritty Details:

You can buy the pattern Here!

The Dress Fabric is from Sew So English

My leggings are made using the Peg Leg Pattern, also from Patterns for Pirates.  They are my go to leggings because I have NEVER had to add any length to them for them to be long enough for me!

I also have to give a BIG shout out and THANK YOU to my daughter Miss. Opinionated Teen (A.K.A. KatieJo) who took the pictures I used.  She did a wonderful job and only asked for Dairy Queen in return.  She’s such a great kid!
