George and Ginger has a way of getting a gal to step out of her comfort zone!
Clothing that sits at my natural waist isn't what I am naturally drawn to, nor are looser fitting clothes because I am very self conscious about my size.

Kristi (the amazing genius behind George and Ginger) is the reason I tend to step out of the box I have stayed in most of my life; so I'll sew just about anything she puts in front of me.

I love the baby doll look to the Lively,  and the ruching at the shoulders.
Just a word to the wise...if your waist is anyway smaller than your hips or bust, don't forget to grade in for your waist so that you have less fabric which will give you a better fit.

Did you notice the sleeves?!?!?
It took me a few minutes...okay a little longer to love them.  But, as it turns out I've started seeing them on all kinds of ready to wear clothing.  They are super comfortable and you can make them like I did with elastic at the end or with a bell sleeve.

Originally I lengthened the bodice and the skirt 1.25" each for my height.  I ended up taking out the lengthening because both were too long.  So, before you lengthen or shorten make sure you check measurements of finished lengths!

I made this version out of Cotton Lycra and while I would use the Cotton Lycra for a lining for the bodice again, I would probably stick with a DBP or something lighter.  And, I added elastic at the waist to add stability.

And, don't forget the ruching on the back yoke!  It's beautiful and creates a beautiful drape of fabric with a more fitted look at the base.  The back has to be my favorite part of the Lively.
I don't think I've ever said that about the pattern before.
It's just elegant in how it looks.

Now, what you've all been waiting for.....
