Sally Skirt

It's been hot here in the Pacific Northwest.  Because we're still in Phase 1 of house arrest  ahem I mean quarantine, we can't head to the pool and shouldn't head to the river. We're trying our hardest to follow the Governor's orders, so the most our kids have gotten is sprinklers in the back yard.  Oh what we wouldn't give to head to the pool! This girl wears a lot of pants, regardless of the heat. And as you can see in the pictures below, she wears long sleeves to go with the pants. She needed something lighter weight to wear and although she has a love for maxi skirts but was feeling skeptical about the Sally from 5 out of 4.  I'm not sure if it was the fabric, she's more of a solids, flowers or animal print kind of a girl.  But, Tie Dye is Back!  Really, did it ever leave? (I did spent my teen years in the 90's friends.) I convinced her to try out the Sally in this Rainbow Pointelle Tie Dye  from Mily Mae Fabric. The Pointelle has such a gre

Cutest Storage Ever!

In all honesty my sewing/craft room is the basement. I took it over the vast majority of our family room when I started testing patterns in earnest a few years ago. Which meant when I began working for Rebecca Page Patterns last year I completed the take over. I have an amazing desk and all the Ikea Kallax storage I could ask for. And yet sometimes I just need smaller CUTE storage for clips or scissors etc.  I enjoy pinterest...A LOT.  I see all kinds of cute ideas for crafting and sewing spaces and dream of when my spaces will be cute. Lately I've been seeing smallish cloth storage type bins that I like

SNOWBALLS....in April?!?!

Snowballs in April?! That's right SNOWBALLS! What better fun is there than a snowball fight, especially when everyone is forced to be inside, or far away from friends during quarantine. So, it's time to make Snowballs! Thankfully, this version of Snowballs aren't cold and can be played with when is super HOT, on a really rainy day, or when it's freezing outside. Even the dogs may want in on the play. Our dogs keep trying to steal our Snowballs from the kids and have made it their personal mission in finding them wherever the kids have hidden them.  A small note of WARNING: Snowballs are only good for the ages of those who can find a ball and put it in their mouth (note I didn't say throw it), to the ripe ol' age of 140...really they are absolutely fantastic for ANYONE!  These have to be the quickest and easiest project with satisfying results. If you are hand sewing your Snowball, follow below. To machine sew your snowball, follow along

Ugly Christmas Shirt

The Holiday Season is upon us!  I have to admit that it's my favorite "season". I really enjoy giving gifts, thinking of others and just enjoying time with my family. Not to mention some of my all time favorite Christmas movies and Ugly Christmas Sweaters/Shirts. When I was growing up, they were just something everyone wore. I remember my mom having so many of them, sweaters, vests; you name it and I'm pretty sure she had an Ugly Christmas version for the Holiday Season.  Back then they weren't called 'Ugly Christmas Sweaters' like they are now. There weren't parties held in their honor, or prizes handed out for the ugliest version like there is today. It's probably a good thing because my mom would have won hands down. She really did have an extensive collection. This year one of the Freebies from Patterns for Pirates  is Ugly Christmas Sweater patterns!  I have to admit I was a tiny bit excited...okay, A LOT excited!  A Sno

Mambo Number 5

All the way back to 1995. But I sure didn't have amazing skirts like these in 1995. In fact, if anyone from back then saw me now they probably wouldn't believe I'm the same person. While I would have loved to be in fashion, it was a tad hard to find. Fast forward to 2019 and Monica, Erica, Rita and Tina are back....better than ever! This time though, they're in back in skirt form and 5 out of 4 Patterns  has done a fantastic job with these skirts!  I had the opport

Sew Free For Summer...

Oh Patsy, I'm all dressed up and ready for...ANYTHING! I didn't realize just how beautiful I'd feel when I put Patsy on for pictures.  I had her on so many times working on fitting, somehow magic happened when I put on the final product.   I had purchased this fabric in November when I was supposed to be doing a test that ended up cancelled.  (different designer).  So, when the opportunity to make the Patsy arose; I wasn't about to miss my opportunity to make her.                                                                                                     Typically the upper half of my body falls within the 4x range of Rebecca Page patterns.  This time though, I found that I ended up taking almost an entire panel off the back. Now, bear with me for a moment.  I have been sewing for a LOOOOOONG time.   I know you're supposed to pick your size based on your measurements.   I  however made a rookie mistake and sized up thinking
